Eye-Catching Landscape Paintings

artist bio

Pat Bechtel has developed an impressionistic style in his oil paintings. He enjoys experimenting with layering and the juxtaposition of colors. Pat’s paintings often look a lot different from far away and up close. From a distance, they may look like they’re well-put-together paintings. Upon closer inspection, the viewer can see that the paintings are actually very messy, energetic, and gritty and that there’s a lot going on underneath the surface. Due to a long string of health issues, Pat--for the most part--stepped away from painting over the past few years. At the beginning of 2017, he made a pledge to himself to start painting and writing creatively again, even though he’s still suffering from a spinal injury that requires hours of rehab every day. His goal is to transform his pain into something beautiful that others can enjoy.
